Growing Deep in the Word
Two Foundations

Pastor Leo Carlo Panlilio

“No matter how seemingly small you are right now, there is greatness inside of you.” – Pastor Carlo Panlilio

Parable of the Mustard Seed and the Yeast in Matthew 13:31-33:

“‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows, it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.’ He told them still another parable: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds of flour until it worked all through the dough.’

To further understand the parable teachings of Jesus, Pastors Carlo and Kai presented three things:

1. They are Parables of Encouragement.
No matter how small and insignificant we think we are, we are meant to grow. Despite that our labor seems small and insignificant, it is meant to grow.

Though growth takes time, if we are faithful in what God has given us, it will continue to grow.

2. They are Parables of Growth.
The two parables teaches us to live by faith and trust more in the truth of what God says as we go through the process.

The growth is all up to God. We may not feel His work in our life, but we can trust God that He is working inside of us, changing us, and growing us.

3. They are Parables of How God Works In Us and Through Us.
The kingdom of God is alive. It’s inside of us doing its job in us and through us.

How does God’s kingdom do its work in our lives? It is through His grace.

A. Grace that brings salvation.
B. Grace that teaches us to say “no” to ungodliness.
C. Grace that empowers us to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives.

Our life in Christ begins in grace, and will continue and be sustained only by His grace. His grace is a picture of transformation in our lives.

May we all grow in the grace of Jesus Christ and allow His Word to grow in us.
